PETROG has a wide range of supported input formats. It will allow you to import individual photomicrographs, sets of images that comprise a mosaic of a sample, or a whole slide image from a slide scanner.

You can also use PETROG to scan a slide in order to construct a Virtual Whole Slide Image, for which all of the standard analyses (e.g. point counting, grain coating analysis) are available and can be performed in the same way as if working with a physical sample on the microscope. >>
